The society works in Klanjec as an independent and voluntary association of citizens for realizing personal and common goals in developing wine culture, wine growing and making through the use of state-of-the-art technology and the education of members (lectures, seminars, exhibitions, competitions) to improve production and quality and enrich the culture of wine consumption, as well as tourism. The society has sixty regular members. The most important actions, beside expert lectures and counseling are: organizing the annual competition and wine evaluation at the county's competition "Vinarijada", celebrating the St. Vincent's Day and presenting the Society at town's manifestations. The most recent action was a project of renovating the cellar in the building of the Craftsmen's Association at the A. Mihanović square and arranging a wine collection and a wine tasting room there, as well as the founding and celebrating the wine road. The Society worked unregistered since the middle of the nineties of the 20th century, when a group of wine makers, gathered on the St. Vincent's Day decided that such an association is necessary for education and promotion of the wines of the Klanjec area. It was presided by Zvonko Sever and operated on the entire area of the former district of Klanjec until the end of the nineties, when independent wine maker associations started forming everywhere in Klanjec. It is no accident that the Society got the name after the famous inhabitant of Klanjec, Antun Mihanović, who was, among other things, also a wine merchant.
