Marton Museum is the first private museum in Croatia, founded and owned by Veljko Marton, the entrepreneur from Zagreb and art collector, who wished to grant access to his own art collection to the general public. The museum is located in the Samobor manor built in the middle of the 19th century. It was opened on May 18, 2003 on the International Day of Museums. The Marton collection consists of several units encompassing the middle and western Europe artworks created between the half of the 18th and 19th centuries. They include art objects made of glass, porcelain, silver, paintings, furniture and clocks. Currently, there are more than 1000 artworks and art objects of applied arts from middle and western Europe and Russia, created between 1750 and 1850.
