Fairy Caves

Grdanjci, Samobor, Grdanjci

Fairy Caves are a system of small caves above the Breganica stream near Tušin. They were made by the sedimentation of travertine from the stream which used to be a waterfall over the rocks and into Breganica. The caves are 12 m long, 10 m wide and 8 m high. A short walkway leads into a smaller cave which is connected with the smallest cave. Unfortunately, the stalactites, once decorating the cave, have been destroyed. Some stone axes were found in the stream as proof that people sought protection in these caves since early times. The easiest route to the Fairy Caves is through Slani Dol or Višnjevac.
