Chapel of St. Elias

Žumberak, Sveta Gera

The Chapel of St. Elias is located on the top of the Žumberak mountain, Sveta Gera. Based on the archeological characteristics, this is a Gothic building typical for the first half of the 15th century. The Feast Day is the first Sunday after the Day of St. Elias (July 20). Since 1994, every last Sunday in January there is a pilgrimage and hiking to Sveta Gera from Sošice. There is a chapel with the same name on the Slovenian side of Sveta Gera.
